Privacy policy
This is an English courtesy translation. In case of doubt, the German version is the legally binding one.
We take the protection of your personal data seriously and treat it confidentially and in accordance with statutory data protection rules (GDPR, German Federal Data Protection Act) and this policy.
1. Controller
Weidner Ventures GmbH
Unter den Linden 24, 10117 Berlin, Germany
Managing director: Dennis Weidner
E-mail: hello@weidner-ventures.com
2. Hosting
This website is hosted by a service provider in Germany (ALL-INKL.COM, Neue Medien Münnich, owner René Münnich, Hauptstraße 68, 02742 Friedersdorf, Germany). The provider processes data on our behalf that is technically necessary to operate a website. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in secure and efficient provision (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). A data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR is in place with the provider.
3. Server log files
When you access the website, the server automatically collects and stores information in what are known as server log files, which your browser transmits: browser type and version, operating system used, referrer URL, host name of the accessing computer, time of the server request and IP address. This data is not merged with other data sources. Processing serves to ensure trouble-free operation and the security of the website (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). Log files are stored for a limited period for security reasons and deleted afterwards.
4. Fonts (served locally)
This website uses web fonts for a consistent presentation of typefaces. The font files are stored locally on our server and delivered from there. No connections to third-party servers (such as Google Fonts) are established and no data is transferred to third parties.
5. Pitch and contact form
If you contact us via the pitch form, we process the information you provide in order to handle your enquiry. We collect:
- Name and e-mail address (to contact you and reply)
- Startup or company, sector and preferred investment model (to categorise your enquiry)
- Optional: funding stage, company website, links to pitch deck and data room
- Your message and, optionally, an attached file such as your pitch deck (content of the enquiry)
After submitting, you receive an automatic acknowledgement of receipt at the e-mail address you provided. Your details and any attached file are stored for structured processing of your enquiry in an access-protected area of our web server that is not publicly reachable, and may be evaluated there with the help of an AI service (Anthropic Claude) for an internal initial assessment; transmission takes place exclusively for this purpose. The data is deleted as soon as the purpose of storage no longer applies or you ask us to delete it.
The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR (pre-contractual measures taken at your request) and our legitimate interest in processing enquiries (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). Transmission is encrypted (SSL/TLS). The information remains with us until the purpose of storage no longer applies (for example after your enquiry has been finally processed) or you ask us to delete it; mandatory statutory retention periods remain unaffected.
To protect against automated spam, the form contains a field that is invisible to you (honeypot). No third-party services are embedded for this and no cookies are set.
6. Newsletter (double opt-in)
You can subscribe to our newsletter on this website. For this we process your e-mail address only. Registration uses the double opt-in procedure: you first receive a confirmation e-mail with a link; your subscription only counts as confirmed once you open that link. Without confirmation your address is not added to the distribution list; the confirmation link expires after 14 days.
The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR). You can unsubscribe at any time, for example with an informal e-mail to hello@weidner-ventures.com; your address is then deleted from the list. We do not track opens or clicks, and no newsletter service providers are involved.
7. Cookies and consent
Technically necessary functions of this website work without cookies. For reach and usage analysis we use Google Analytics (see section 8). It is only loaded once you have expressly consented via our cookie notice (opt-in). As long as you neither accept nor decline, no analytics cookies are set and no analytics service is loaded. We store your decision locally in your browser; you can revoke or change it at any time via the "Cookie settings" button (bottom left). The legal basis for consent-based processing is Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR and § 25 (1) TDDDG.
8. Google Analytics (only with consent)
After your consent we use Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service of Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to analyse the use of the website (for example pages visited, approximate origin, devices used). We have enabled IP anonymisation, so your IP address is processed in truncated form. The information generated by the cookies may be transferred to Google servers, including in third countries (USA); Google is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, and standard contractual clauses apply in addition. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR, § 25 (1) TDDDG), which you can revoke at any time with effect for the future. You can find more information in Google's privacy policy.
9. Recipients and transfers to third countries
Your data is passed on to third parties only where this is necessary to handle your enquiry or where we are legally obliged to do so. Processors engaged: our hosting provider (Germany), Google Ireland Ltd. for our e-mail system (Google Workspace), and the AI service of Anthropic PBC (USA) for the internal initial assessment of submitted pitch enquiries. Where data is transferred to third countries outside the EU or EEA, this takes place on the basis of the EU standard contractual clauses; Anthropic does not use data submitted via the API to train its models.
10. Your rights
You have the right at any time to information (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and a right to object (Art. 21 GDPR) regarding the processing of your personal data. Please contact hello@weidner-ventures.com. You can revoke consent you have given at any time with effect for the future.
11. Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority
You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the member state of your residence or of the alleged infringement. The authority responsible for us is the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.
12. Status
This privacy policy is dated July 2026. As our website develops or statutory requirements change, it may become necessary to adapt it.
